Syria Qurbani Donation: Share Eid with the Families in the Camps
A Syria Qurbani donation is a tangible way to reach out at Eid to families who still bear the scars of war and earthquake.
A small-animal Qurbani costs 175 €. Your Qurbani is performed and the meat is delivered in person to families living in the camps.
Why does the need continue in Syria?
Years of war have driven millions of people from their homes; the 2023 earthquake made the destruction in the region even worse.
Families living in camps and makeshift settlements in the north still struggle to access basic food.
For most of these families, Qurbani meat is the one thing that truly makes Eid feel like Eid.
How is your Qurbani distributed in Syria?
- Slaughter: The Qurbani is performed in the name you entered in the form and in accordance with Islamic rules.
- Distribution: The meat is delivered in person to families in the camps; households with orphans and elderly members are given priority.
- Video: The slaughter video is sent to you by SMS.
- Receipt: Once your payment is confirmed, a donation receipt arrives in your inbox.
We explain why Qurbani by proxy is valid in our article Qurbani by proxy.
Example: a Shukr Qurbani from Innsbruck
A family living in Innsbruck wants to have a Shukr (thanksgiving) Qurbani performed for their children’s health, in addition to their wajib Qurbani.
Total: 2 × 175 € = 350 €. In the form, “Wajib” is selected in the first row and “Shukr” in the second.
For the ruling on Shukr Qurbani, see our guide Nadhr, Aqiqah and Shukr Qurbani.
Eid dates and wajib Qurbani
Wajib Qurbani is performed during Eid al-Adha, 16–19 May 2027. You can find out whether Qurbani is wajib for you in our article Who must offer Qurbani?.
An alternative close to Syria
If you would like to reach camps in the Levant for the same price, you can also take a look at the Lebanon Qurbani donation page.
By adding an orphan sponsorship to your basket alongside your Qurbani, you can extend your support throughout the year.
Families spending the winter in camps
Families in the camps often live in tents or unfinished buildings; they have almost no regular income.
Because food aid usually consists of basics such as flour, rice and pulses, meat is the food that least often reaches the table.
Qurbani meat distributed at Eid is a valuable source of protein, especially for growing children.
When to donate
The eve of Eid is 15 May 2027. So that the animals can be slaughtered and distributed on the days of Eid, we recommend completing your donation a few days in advance.
From anywhere in Austria you can donate in a few minutes by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, EPS or PayPal.
After your donation you receive a thank-you message by e-mail, and a donation receipt once payment is confirmed. Because of the heavy workload during Eid, the slaughter video may arrive in the days after the slaughter.
